Robin Ticciati: the 28-year-old who makes top-rank conducting look so easy
Robin Ticciati tells Ivan Hewett the secret of his success.
The award-winning "Mozart Symphonies 38-41" by Sir Charles Mackerras and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has remained in the Official UK Classical chart for a fourth week. The popular recording re-entered the chart after the album won "Disc of the Year" at the BBC Music Magazine Awards 2009. It is currently at Number 6!
The unbeatable combination of the SCO and Mackerras may well result in another chart entry on Sunday 10th May, as their latest album, "Beethoven Piano Concertos 3, 4 & 5" with pianist Artur Pizarro, was released on Monday 4th May and has already proved a hit with the critics; "Outstanding performances, always satisfying and frequently inspiring" (The Sunday Herald).
More awards may be forthcoming for "Mozart Symphonies 38-41" which has gained two nominations at the 2009 Classical Brit Awards. Sir Charles Mackerras is nominated for Male Artist of the Year and his recording with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra is nominated for the Critics' Award.
