Dunedin Consort - Mozart: Requiem - Choir & Organ
There have been some notable reconstructions of Mozart's Requiem in recent years, but the Dunedin Consort have used this recording to restore the Süssmayr completion and record a version that is as close to the original performance as possible in a new edition by David Black. Beautifully paced and using period instruments in a chamber-like recording, the classical brass and woodwind create just the right ambience and drama when needed. It is refreshing when scholarship and performance serve each other so well. The German pronunciation of Latin is commendable.
