    Biography

Théotime Langlois de Swarte is the very first Baroque violinist to be awarded at the Victoires de la musique classique, being designated in 2020 as their ‘New Discovery’ in the solo instrumentalist category, in recognition of his work as a core member of several Baroque ensembles, notably Les Arts Florissants, whose director William Christie has regularly chosen him as a partner in violin and harpsichord recitals, and frequently invited him to play as a soloist with the ensemble. After studying with Michaël Hentz at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP), in 2015 Théotime founded the ensemble Le Consort together with harpsichordist Justin Taylor. His concerts have taken him to major concert halls all over the world: in one such event in 2021 he gave an historic ‘Salon Marcel Proust’ recital and broadcast at the Philharmonie de Paris, playing the celebrated Stradivarius ‘Davidoff’ violin preserved at the Musée de la musique.

Théotime Langlois de Swarte is supported by the Fondation Banque populaire and the Jumpstart Foundation.
