Alfie talks to Classical Music Magazine
Alfie Boe is continuing to draw great interest. Whether for his current performances as Alfredo in La traviata with the Welsh National Opera, or for his new album ‘Love was a Dream', the tenor is regularly commanding attention.
In their current issue Classical Music Magazine talks to Alfie about his new album and his move from EMI to Linn Records. In response to Alfie's decision to move from the major label he commented: "I wanted to sign with a credible label that was solely classical and boost the legitimacy of being a classical operatic tenor". Alfie's manager, Neil Ferris, added: "We wanted to move to a different kind of environment where we could make the kind of record we wanted to make".
This is certainly achieved with Alfie's debut on Linn Records. ‘Love was a Dream' features the songs of Franz Lehár - a greatly personal repertoire as Alfie and his family frequently used to listen to Richard Tauber, his father's favourite singer, and his interpretations of many of these songs.
