Claire Martin performs songs from her new album "A Modern Art" on her UK tour, which sees the First Lady of British Jazz perform in Brighton, Bath, London, Gateshead, Wavendon, Dorking, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Swansea and Cambridge.
Claire Martin is one of the jewels of the UK jazz scene. With a breathtaking ability to inhabit a lyric and bring songs to life, she appears in support of her new Linn album "A Modern Art". Expect stylishly re-worked and much loved standards by Cy Coleman and Rodgers and Hart, sassy originals and modern classics from Esbjorn Svensson, Michael Franks and Donald Fagan, all expertly played by Martin's world-class trio: Gareth Williams on piano, Laurence Cottle on bass and Chris Dagley on drums.
Claire is fresh from a hugely successful run at New York's Oak Room, which had the New York Times lauding her Subtle, beautifully acted interpretations and the New York Observer acclaiming Run, don't walk to the Algonquin.
