We present all the highlights from the 2021 Edinburgh International Festival Orchestral Series, which launched with a performance of PIVOT, a brand new Anna Clyne work premiered here by Dalia Stasevska and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Chineke! Orchestra premieres the groundbreaking work Blush by Ayanna Witter-Johnson whilst Marin Alsop, Elim Chan and Thomas Søndergård conduct favourite works.

We continue our popular highlights series from the 2021 Edinburgh International Festival with Nicola Benedetti's final performance as resident artist. Stravinsky’s darkly witty The Soldier’s Tale stars Sir Thomas Allen (narrator), Anthon Flaum (soldier) and Siobhan Redmond (devil). The brilliant Scottish violinist is also joined by a specially selected ensemble of musicians to bring Stravinsky’s sly musical storytelling to life.

With all the glitz, glamour and unforgettable songs of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, this dazzling musical revue weaves a moving new storyline through iconic songs from Carousel, Oklahoma!, The King and I, South Pacific and The Sound of Music. Recorded at the 2021 Edinburgh International Festival it stars Danielle de Niese, Kim Criswell, Anna-Jane Casey, Wayne Marshall, Damian Humbley and Richard Morrison.

The fourth recording in our series of highlights from the 2021 Edinburgh International Festival features nine standout performances from the highly popular Chamber Music Series. Enjoy performances from Chineke! Chamber Ensemble, Steven Osborne, Gerald Finley, Mari Eriksmoen, Elizabeth Watts and Roderick Williams, the Goldmund Quartet, the Gringolts Quartet, the Gould Piano Trio, and Maxim Emelyanychev and SCO Principals.

Lothar Koenigs conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a concert performance of Richard Strauss’s comedy Ariadne auf Naxos. Among the specially selected cast are revered German soprano Dorothea Röschmann as the opera’s wronged heroine, Thomas Quasthoff as the house’s major-domo and prize-winning Scottish singer Catriona Morison as the composer.
