'Mozart Symphonies 38 - 41' by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Sir Charles Mackerras has yet again been chosen as one of the best classical recordings of 2008. On Wednesday 17th December on BBC Radio 4's Front Row, guests were invited to select their 'Pick of 2008'. BBC Music Magazine's Helen Wallace chose 'Mozart Symphonies 38 - 41' as her favourite! Talking to the programme's presenter, Mark Lawson, about why she chose this disc she states: "I was exhilarated by these...the phenomenal vitality that he brings to this is electrifying".
The SCO's recording, which was released early in 2008, has appeared on several ‘Best of 2008' lists; it was selected as the number one classical recording of the year in both the Sunday Times and HMV Choice. Why not treat yourself to the recording or download it to hear these fantastic works? As The Guardian commented: "these are the finest versions of Mozart's greatest symphonies to have appeared on disc in years".
