An 'Indispensable' Mozart Recording
Natasha Loges names Mackerras' Mozart as one of five indispensable recordings of his music
Linn Records is delighted to announce that ‘Mozart Symphonies 38 - 41' has been shortlisted for a Midem Award. The Midem Awards 2009 - which take place during the record industry's annual trade fair in Cannes - will be held on Tuesday 20th January. 127 different record companies submitted recordings from 23 different countries to the international awards. These recordings were then auditioned by a jury consisting of editors, executives and producers from an international group of magazines, radio stations and musical organisations.
Sir Charles Mackerras (who will attend the event on the 20th) and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra are delighted to have been shortlisted in such a prestigious event. Other nominations in the Symphonic Works category include recordings of symphonies by Beethoven and Mahler. This news adds to the success of an album named Classical Record of 2008 by The Sunday Times and HMV Choice.
