In The Studio: Karen Cargill
Last month Karen Cargill opened the 2019:20 Season at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under the baton of Thomas Søndergård in a performance which included Berg’s Seven Early Songs. This week Karen, Thomas and the RSNO are in the studio to record these intimate and lyrical songs which will be paired with the heady eroticism of Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder. You'll have to wait until 2020 to hear this recording.
Karen won praise following performances of Wesendonck Lieder in New York, London and Edinburgh; The Scotsman stated, “Cargill sings Wagner with natural ease, plundering the depth of emotion below the surface”. This will be Karen's third recording with Linn since she has previously recorded Les nuits d’été with Robin Ticciati and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and a solo recital of lieder by Gustav and Alma Mahler.
