Misteria Paschalia Festival Announcement
John Butt announced as Residing Director of Krakow’s Misteria Paschalia Festival 2018
Two Linn recordings have been chosen by Gramophone for inclusion in its list of 'Top 10 Recent Mozart Recordings'.
Gramophone states: 'The recordings represent some of the finest Mozart recordings of the last two years, all of them were Editor's Choice recommendations in Gramophone and many were shortlisted for Gramophone Awards.'
The two titles are Mozart: Requiem (Reconstruction of first performance) by Dunedin Consort & John Butt and Mozart: Divertimenti by Scottish Chamber Orchestra Wind Soloists.
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra's Mozart was named a 'Choice' recording in the February 2015 issue of Gramophone. The review stated: 'These performances wonderfully capture the charm of these Mozart chamber works, each instrument oozing a delightfully unforced sense of personality...I fancy Mozart would have smiled in approval.'
The Dunedin Consort's first recording of Mozart's music earned the ensemble its second Gramophone Award and a GRAMMY nomination. Gramophone wrote: ‘Purely on grounds of performance alone, this is one of the finest Mozart Requiems of recent years. As with all of Butt's recordings, however, this Mozart Requiem is something of an event. It is Butt's minute attention to these details, though, that makes this such a thrilling performance.'
