Barb Jungr wows the crowds Stateside
Barb Jungr has been winning the praise of the notoriously hard to please New York critics as she takes her sold out Bob Dylan show 'Man in the Long Black Coat' to the States in a 17 date tour which finishes in Austin, Texas on 4th November.
The Wall Street Journal commented "She sings with a passion and tenderness that not even Mr. Dylan himself could have imagined" whilst the New York Post said "Bob Dylan's songs are a-changin' when Barb Jungr tries them on" and the New York Times stated "Barb Jungr delivered a fiery personal tutorial on Mr. Dylan".
Barb, who has already toured the show across the UK, has been overwhelmed by the reception from the US audiences. She opened the tour at the The Rrazz Room, San Francisco before returning to the The Metropolitan Room, New York, where she has performed previous shows and built a strong fanbase, before continuing on to the Catalina Jazz Club, Los Angeles before closing in the Austin Cabaret Theatre, Austin.
Barb's live show highlights the emotional lyrics in Bob Dylan's songs, often obscured by Dylan's own delivery style, as well being peppered with anecdotes delivered with Barb's trademark wit. If you are not amongst the lucky people who have seen the show so far, don't worry, you can hear Barb's take on Dylan on her latest album, 'Man in the Long Black Coat, which NY Culture called "the most significant vocal album of the 21st century thus far".
