The records I find worthy of this special accolade usually have something of the unfamiliar or unexpected about them, in approach or repertoire; they excite me and they teach me something. And I find myself playing them time and again. 

A major contribution to the revival of the theorbo as a solo, rather than just a continuo, instrument. Kenny’s playing is perceptive and assured throughout and there is much to admire and enjoy in the different ways which our contemporaries find to write for the theorbo.
