This fascinating, or bizarre, disc is not another realisation of Beethoven’s sketches for a Tenth Symphony, but a collage-compilation in eight movements for two orchestras, two choirs and a tenor of dramatic fragments of his previous symphonies. Henry, cofounder of musique concrète, uses only Beethoven material to commit this artistic “crime” (his word). Clearly, crime pays.
