2021 starts with a bang. Following the exceptional success of its debut album the Maxwell Quartet returns with its second recording of Haydn. The prize-winning quartet is performing Haydn’s Op. 74 and a selection of Scottish folk music.

Peter Whelan and the Irish Baroque Orchestra explore the music in Ireland from the 1750s to 1770s. They are joined by present-day superstar Irish mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught to perform works which castrato Tenducci would have sung in Ireland.
Following its first album dedicated to Bach’s keyboard music – named a Chamber Choice by BBC Music Magazine – Phantasm explores further riches from Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier arranged by director Laurence Dreyfus for viol consort.
In their first recording for Linn, The English Concert and artistic director Harry Bicket tackle Handel’s 1725 hit opera Rodelinda. Lucy Crowe and Iestyn Davies lead a stellar cast of soloists.
In his second recording for Linn, charismatic pianist Simon Trpčeski performs Shostakovich’s two Piano Concertos with the outstanding Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava under Orchestre National de France’s new Musical Director Cristian Măcelaru.
Embodying the melodies and sweet harmonies which defined the era, Gothic Voices performs music from The Old Hall Manuscript. This is a wonderful collection of classy compositions from late 14th- to early 15th century.
Linn’s Royal Academy of Music Bicentenary Series continues with four new debut albums from the exceptional recipients of the Academy’s 2019/20 Bicentenary Scholarships scheme: violinist Roberts Balanas, cellist Margarita Balanas, pianist Ariel Lanyi and organist James Orford.
