Streichquartett der Staatskapelle Berlin - Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Puccini - Fanfare

This appears to be their first recording, and it is, by any reasonable standard, a success. When the music allows it, such as in the last movement of the Verdi, their approach is intense, bordering on the muscular, and in general, they seem to welcome any opportunity to turn up the thermostat. The recording was made in the new Pierre Boulez Saal and is exemplary.
