Perfect Houseplants - Snap Clatter - Q Magazine
Perfect Houseplants are one of the most consistently enjoyable British jazz groups to emerge in the last few years.
Specialising in an intelligent and occasionally ironic music, the quartet writes catchy and memorable material, and manages to sound light-hearted without losing the restlessness that characterise the best improvised music. This is their third album, and it sounds slightly more reserved and "classical" than anything they have done before. It doesn't possess any less charm. Pianist Huw Warren's attractive, impressionistic New Day, and saxophonist Mark Lockheart's softly stated Hush are particularly attractive additions to the Houseplants canon. The traditional tango track comes in the form of Warren's brilliant Tango For Stalling.
