Given the formidable catalogue competition, an emerging 26-year-old pianistic talent might think twice about recording Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier Book I. However, Aaron Pilsan’s intelligent interpretations deserve attention, not to mention the subtle “non-equal tempered” tuning courtesy of Christian Schoke. My reservations are outweighed by this release’s many excellent qualities. Clearly Aaron Pilsan is a pianist worth watching. Is Book II in the cards?
