Boston Baroque - Haydn Creation - Choir & Organ
From the opening orchestral introduction you know you are in for a rare treat: the orchestral portrayal of chaos is mesmerising. The high standard of performance continues throughout the score. The 25-voice chorus and the three excellent soloists, who blend well together, complement this fine baroque orchestra, making for an exhilarating interpretation of Haydn's work. Martin Pearlman extracts every subtle nuance out of the score. The execution of finely graded expression is breath-taking and the vigours tempi add real drama to the proceedings. Ornamentation in arias is guided by embellishments found in old manuscripts. Very highly recommended.
