Gerard Presencer - Platypus - The Observer

Although he has played on more than 50 albums, this is the first under Presencer's own name. It makes a brillant debut, but will surprise those expecting the straight-ahead trumpet for which he is so admired. The music combines such disparate elements as funk, bebop and Seventies retor, tying them together with a compelling rhythmic groove.
