Begun in 2014, this leisurely saunter through Haydn’s 107 symphonies is not due for completion for another decade, the composer’s 300th birthday in 2032. Here we have Haydn in the French capital, the first and last of the great Paris symphonies, along with No 24 and No 2, the first known to have been performed and published there. All four works bear the hallmarks of Antonini’s style with its dynamic variety, strong accents and sparkling wit.
