IBO & Peter Whelan - The Hibernian Muse - Fanfare

The performance by the Irish period instrument band is superb. The tempos are all solid and the intonation absolutely spot on. Of particular note is the remarkable and facile horn playing by Anneke Scott, whose technical mastery of the instrument in the aria paraphrase is beyond doubt the epitome of musicality and precision, especially given the need to blend with the flute. This is an absolutely delightful program of music that one will not find anywhere else in precisely this setting. It makes one desirous for more music from the Irish Baroque Orchestra. My recommendation: get it!
