Katherine Bryan - Katherine Bryan plays Flute Concertos by Christopher Rouse and Jacques Ibert - Dagogo
Fresh from her acclaimed debut recording, flautist Katherine Bryan returns with a recital which showcases her enviable technique and musicality. Featuring repertoire that is of personal significance to Katherine, the in-demand concerto soloist performs under the baton of Jac van Steen accompanied by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Katherine has chosen a program that places maximum demands on her and the RSNO but one that delivers maximum pleasure for the listener. The Flute Concerto by American composer Christopher Rouse, which Katherine says she ‘love, love, loves!', calls for astonishing pyrotechnics from both the flute and the orchestra, whilst French composer Jacques Ibert's Concerto for Flute and Orchestra is full of intense technical challenges for the soloist. Debussy's Syrinx and Frank Martin's Ballade complete this hugely enjoyable programme.
