L’Apothéose - Stamitz: Six Trios, Op. 14 - Gramophone

All is dispatched with the utmost finesse by L’Apothéose. Quesada ornaments freely on repeats and blends with the imaginative accompaniments of her colleagues in the accommodating acoustic of the National Centre for Early Music, a converted church in York. The first two trios have been recorded on Nimbus by Hansgeorg Schmeiser and friends – albeit on a 24-carat gold flute rather than Quesada’s wooden model – but Nos 3 6 appear to be otherwise unavailable, so those with an interest in this corner of the repertoire are in for a treat.
