The title number, written by the irrepressible Joe Stilgoe, has to be one of the finest new songs of the year, the bittersweet lyrics burnished by Evan Jolly's brass-band arrangement. Carroll, a soulful singer-pianist and proud resident of once unfashionable Hastings, even adds a sombre torch-song take on that Morecambe & Wise anthem Bring Me Sunshine. Nobody's Fault but Mine is bold and bluesy, while she signs off with a deeply affecting treatment of For Those in Peril on the Sea.
