The scent of roses wafting into the lovers’ bedroom from the garden – the ode to love from Alban Berg’s Seven Early Songs – the new recording from soprano Lucy Crowe and pianist Anna Tilbrook. For me their Berg is the best thing in this recital really suiting the combination of lightness and shadow in Crowe’s voice. Longing is the title, Lieder by Strauss, Berg and Schoenberg and it’s on Linn Records.
