Ravel - Pizarro - Financial Times
Pizarro's pearl-like clarity casts a spell over music that demands the wizardry of a water-sprite. And so the most rewarding moments come in Jeux d'eau, Ondine from Gaspard de la Nuit and the two best-known movements from Miroirs - Une barque sur l'ocean and Alborada del gracioso. His palette is too bright for my taste in Le gibet and La vallée des cloches, but it's a small price to pay for such highly calibrated pianism, heard to spectacular effect in La Valse.
