Robin Ticciati & SCO - Schumann: The Symphonies - Big Issue
Since he arrived as principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Robin Ticciati has been gently leading the esteemed ensemble into romantic territory - first it was Berlioz, now Schumann. Last season they performed all four Schumann symphonies and they've just released a superb recording of the set.
‘Revelatory' is an overused word but it's applicable here: Ticciati finds wondrous detail in every bar of these scores, but the dynamism and spark that he and this orchestra create makes sure they never lose track of the overall picture. The SCO's playing is stylish, generous and brimming with life.
