Protean Quartet identifies itself with a critical spirit in permanent revision, one in constant dialogue with the music and its members, searching for new ideas and creative impulses. Focusing on historically informed performance, Protean Quartet plays the repertoire composed for string quartet ranging from the Baroque period to the Romantic era, paying special attention to rediscovering music of Spanish heritage.

The ensemble was awarded First Prize at the 2022 York Early Music International Young Artists Competition, as well as First Prize at the 2020 Biagio Marini Competition. Since its formation, the quartet has performed at important festivals such as Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, York Early Music Festival, Festival Concentus Moraviae in Czech Republic, FIAS in Madrid and Festival de Saintes.

In addition to their dedication to the quartet repertoire, its members play regularly with some of the most important groups of the Baroque scene such as Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Lautten Compagney and Gli Incogniti.
