James Gilchrist Performs Schumann Lieder
James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook lead a glorious two-day celebration of the great nineteenth century composer, Schumann at St John's, Smith Square. The duo will present more than 70 of the wonderful songs he wrote in his ‘Lieder Year' of 1840, including Dichterliebe and the two sets of Liederkreis on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June.
They will be sung alongside two of his finest chamber works: the Piano Quintet and the Piano Quartet, complemented by Felix Mendelssohn's exhilarating Octet, composed when he was just 16, his ever popular Piano Trio in D minor and a selection of his wonderful but underrated songs.
