Sir Charles and the SCO triumph at the Classical BRITs!
'Mozart Symphonies 38 - 41' wins Critics' Award
Linn Records' Business Manager, Caroline Dooley, was interviewed on the Good Morning Scotland programme broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland on Wednesday 8th April. Caroline was on air to talk about Linn's double success at the BBC Music Magazine awards held the previous day in London, where "Mozart Symphonies 38-41" was awarded the 'Orchestral' Award and the coveted 'Disc of the Year' Award.
An excerpt from Mozart's 40th Symphony introduced the segment. Presenter Gillian Marles highlighted the achievement of a small independent record label like Linn Records in beating the music giants such as Sony and RCA to take the ultimate accolade. Caroline stated that the entire Linn team had "sore cheeks from smiling so much!" and went on to say that the award reflected "many years of hard work perfecting our engineering skills". When asked what was it about the recording that gave it that extra something special, Caroline pointed to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's long-standing relationship with conductor Sir Charles Mackerras who, in his 84th year, is now at his peak!
