Phantasm's success in Utrecht
Phantasm delighted audiences at the Utrecht Early Music Festival (www.oudemuziek.nl) where they performed at two sell-out concerts on 29th and 30th August. The award-winning ensemble played music from their new recording " John Ward: Consort music for five and six viols" as well as viol music by Purcell and Jenkins. The concerts, held at the beautiful 12th century Geertekerk, won the ensemble many new fans as they received two standing ovations!
The concert on Sunday 30th August was made even more special due to the launch of Phantasm's new recording. After the concert the ensemble's director Laurence Dreyfus shared insights into the Jacobean composer John Ward and his music, and why it is such a joy to play. Many members of the audience waited to have their new copy signed by the ensemble and chat about the music.
