The Royal Academy of Music Bicentenary Series Continues

As the Royal Academy of Music approaches its Bicentenary in 2022, Linn’s Bicentenary Series continues with four new debut albums from the exceptional recipients of the Academy’s 2019/20 Bicentenary Scholarships scheme.

Violinist Roberts Balanas (who can count Sir Elton John amongst his fans) performs highly original transcriptions of contemporary music using inventive techniques; Margarita Balanas performs the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto in its nonet arrangement; and pianist Ariel Lanyi performs Schubert's magnificent Moments Musicaux and his D major sonata. The fourth recording is by organist James Orford and is particularly notable because James continues the series of transcriptions of Vivaldi’s L’estro armónico which was left incomplete by its previous author, none other than Johann Sebastian Bach.

Ariel and James are the first to record their albums which will be released in 2021.
