An Essential Charles Mackerras Recording
Mackerras's Mozart symphonies recording named 'Essential' by Hi-Fi News
March brings three key dates: the first day of spring, Early Music Day and International Piano Day. We are marking all three occasions with our special Spring Promotion, which includes 40 recordings inspired by these celebrations: 10 spring titles, 20 Early Music titles and 10 piano titles.
The first day of spring suggests music that is inspired by nature, music written to be enjoyed outdoors and works that celebrate the season. Recordings include The Nightingale and the Butterfly by Pamela Thorby, Schumann’s popular ‘Spring Symphony’ performed by Robin Ticciati and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Les Saisons by Trio Zadig and Dvořák by The Busch Trio.
Early Music Day falls on 21st March (which also happens to be the birthday of the great J. S. Bach) and there is a wealth of fantastic recordings to discover, including Handel from Dunedin Consort, Tartini from Evgeny Sviridov, Sweelinck from Richard Egarr, Charpentier from Vox Luminis and Bach's Cello Suites from Richard Tunnicliffe.
International Piano Day is celebrated annually on the 88th day of the year (29th March in 2022), to match the date to the number of keys on a piano! This offers a wonderful opportunity to highlight recordings from popular pianists such as Simon Trpčeski, Nelson Goerner, Ingrid Fliter and Olivier Cavé and composers such as Chopin, Schubert, Shostakovich and Mozart.
This promotion has now ended.
