Giovanni Antonini & Il Giardino Armonico - Haydn 2032, Vol. 10: Les heures du jour - Fanfare
Although Haydn’s Allegros do not become Allegro molto until the first movement of “Le Soir,” Antonini supplies plenty of molto throughout, giving all three symphonies the full Haydn vitality so often missing from other recorded performances. Tempos are brisk, attacks are crisp, and the comparatively large string section contributes to the oomph.
These are superb renditions of Haydn’s “Times-of- Day” Symphonies.
