Prokofiev Violin Concerto - Inverness Courier
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra give a sparkling account of this witty symphony written in the style of Haydn. Swensen swaps his baton for a bow and turns in an agile, energetic and persuasively phrased performance of the same composer's accessible second violin concerto. The slow movement is magic - and Prokofiev's Five Melodies, lovingly orchestrated by Swensen, are equally ravishingly played. Linn's recording brings out the beauty of the music and the vitality of its interpreters.
