Album information

Amid the season’s celebrations take time to unwind and relax with this musical selection filled with moments of calm and meditation. Have a break from the hustle and bustle and slow down.

Time stands still from the opening notes of Tallis’s Te lucis ante terminum performed beautifully by Magnificat. Calming orchestral Adagios from Haydn’s La Passione Symphony and Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony bring more restful moments courtesy of Julien Chauvin & Le Concert de la Loge and Robin Ticciati & Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. The special sonorities of the lute and marimba are both used to great effect in performances by Elizabeth Kenny and KUNIKO, whilst moments of pure poetry are provided by Artur Pizarro, Sir Charles Mackerras & Scottish Chamber Orchestra who bring a sense of peace to a critically acclaimed performance from Beethoven's "Empereror" Piano Concerto.
