Prokofiev Violin Concerto - Classic FM Magazine
It takes a top-class chamber orchestra to combine the needlepoint precision of a smallish ensemble with the weight of tone that makes them sound like, well, a full orchestra. The SCO's delivery of the 'Classical' Symphony is as crisp and satisfying as a newly minted bank note. In the concerto, Swensen offers strong and classy solo playing, and his arrangements of the Five Melodies (originally for violin and piano) are a genuinely attractive addition to the repertory.
