Astrig Siranossian - Dear Mademoiselle - The Sunday Times
This tribute to the pedagogue Boulanger includes her own charming three pieces for cello and piano, the latter taken by Barenboim, who studied with her in his teens. Her friend Stravinsky’s violin-and-piano Suite Italienne is heard in a cello version by Piatigorsky and works brilliantly. The other items are by her pupils, Carter’s Cello Sonata looming largest and Quincy Jones’s Soul Bossa Nova broadening the range.
