Concerto Caledonia - Mungrel Stuff - Classic FM
Crossover is nothing new - this disc shows what happens when baroque Italians try to be Scottish, and a Scottish composer adopts modish Italian manners. Many of the names are unfamiliar - Francesco Barsanti is hardly the brightest star in the baroque firmament, and Bocchi (the melodramatic A Scots Cantata), Corri (Duncan Grey) and McGibbon (Sonata in Imitation of Corelli) are even more obscure. but that shouldn't dissuade anyone from enjoying this magically beguiling music.
