Duo Pleyel - Dussek: Complete Original Works for Piano Four-Hands - BBC Radio 3 'Record Review'

A rondo for piano duet by Bohemian pianist/composer Jan Ladislav Dussek one of the most famous performers of his time, with a fantastic life story packed with incidents and so is his music as Duo Pleyel demonstrates with enthusiastic commitment. Pianists Richard Egarr and Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya duetting on an 1848 Pleyel piano. Richard Egarr is a Dussek enthusiast, just see last year’s recording of Dussek’s splendid Messe Solemnelle with the Academy of Ancient Music (currently up for a Gramophone Award). And Duo Pleyel use all the timbres, dynamics and attack of their period keyboard to tremendous effect.
