Giovanni Antonini & Il Giardino Armonico - Haydn 2032, Vol. 13 - Deutschen Schallplattenkritik
Haydn 2032 may still be a long way off, but this complete recording of his symphonies is already making history. It does away with the ubiquitous friendly 'Papa' of Viennese Classicism, brings the futuristic freshness of his style to the fore, compares and relates. This also succeeds excellently with three symphonies from the widely-overlooked middle period of the 1760s and 1770s. The ensemble’s playing under Giovanni Antonini once again resembles sparking fireworks on the brash surface as well as an inner contemplation in the quiet moments.
