Phantasm - Lawes: The Royal Consort - BBC Radio 3 ‘CD Review’

What a treat that was - played with such clarity and soulful understanding by viol consort Phantasm. Laurence Dreyfus' notes are so detailed, passionate and scholarly that it would be tempting to dismiss them as special pleading if it weren't for the fact that the performances back up everything he says in all his claims for the quality of the music.
