Simon Lepper read music at King's College, Cambridge and studied piano accompaniment with Michael Dussek at the Royal Academy of Music. He is a professor of Piano Accompaniment at the Royal College of Music and an official accompanist for the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Song Prize.
He has appeared at major concert venues including the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Musee d'orsay, Auditorium du Louvre and Mozarteum, and broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio 3. For Wigmore Hall, Lepper devised a concert series based on the songs of Joseph Marx, working with singers Angelika Kirschschlager, Christopher Maltman, Elizabeth Watts and Roderick Williams. He performs regularly with singers including Stéphane Degout, Sally Matthews, Dame Felicity Palmer and Christopher Purves.
Lepper has given concerts throughout the UK with Mark Padmore in programmes including Schumann's Dichterliebe, Beethoven's An die Ferne Geliebte and the Schubert song cycles. International festival appearances have included Verbier, Switzerland; December Nights Festival, Moscow; BBC Proms and Delft Chamber Music Festival.
He has toured with violinist Carolin Widmann to Paris, London, Amsterdam and Madrid. Their recording for ECM, Phantasy of Spring - contemporary works, including Feldman, Zimmerman and Xenakis - received a Diapason d'Or.
