Le Consort
Le Consort
Le Consort, a unique chamber music ensemble, brings together four young musicians who perform the trio sonata repertoire with enthusiasm, sincerity and modernity.
Biography
From Corelli to Vivaldi, from Purcell to Couperin, the dialogue between the two violins and the basso continuo unfolds a wealth of contrasts between vocality, sensuality and virtuosity. Le Consort takes up this genre, the quintessence of Baroque chamber music, and interprets it with a personal, dynamic and colourful language. Le Consort is in residence at the Banque de France, at the Fondation Singer- Polignac and at the Abbaye de Royaumont.
In June 2017, Le Consort won the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Val de Loire International Early Music Competition, presided over by William Christie. The ensemble has performed in Paris (Radio France Auditorium, Louvre Auditorium), the Dijon Opera, the Easter Festival in Deauville, the Arsenal in Metz, the MA Festival in Brugge (BE), the Sablé Festival, the Pau Casals Foundation (ES), the Anvers de Singel (BE), and the Misteria Paschalia Festival in Krakow (PL). The ensemble has also appeared in numerous broadcasts on France 3, France Musique, France Inter and Radio Classique.
Created in 2016 by Sophie de Bardonnèche, Théotime Langlois de Swarte, Louise Pierrard and Justin Taylor, Le Consort is an ensemble bringing together strong individualities to perform chamber music from the 17th and 18th centuries, from trio sonatas to vocal recitals with orchestra.
From the very beginning, the musicians of Le Consort fell in love with Jean-François Dandrieu's unpublished sonatas, which offer an extraordinary variety of feelings. The OPUS 1 disc (Diapason d'or de l'année2019) presents a complete set. Le Consort also enjoys defending the vocal repertoire by working very closely with the mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik. This collaboration has led the young musicians to make two recordings: Venez chère ombre, dedicated to French cantatas by Montéclair, Clérambault and Lefèvre (January 2019, CHOC Classica) as well as Royal Handel, an immersion in London opera with arias by Handel, Ariosti and Bononcini. A fourth recording is to be counted among their discography: 7 Particules (B records, November 2018), which presents works by Vivaldi, Handel and Telemann, as well as a creation by the composer David Chalmin.
